What happened
On Sunday, August 4, 2024, a light aircraft crashed near the eastern border of Leopold Downs Station (now known as Yarranggi), northeast of Fitzroy Crossing in Kimberley, Western Australia. The aircraft sustained extensive damage in the incident, which left two occupants seriously injured.
The pilot and passenger were both airlifted from the crash site by the Royal Flying Doctor Service and transported to Broome Hospital, where they remained under ongoing medical care in serious condition. The exact circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation.
