What happened
On Friday, January 4, 2024, a Gulfstream V registered JA501A and operated by the Japan Coast Guard sustained minor damage at Haneda Airport, Tokyo, when struck by a Japan Airlines high-lift cargo truck while parked on an aircraft apron.
At approximately 18:00 local time, the unmanned aircraft was struck by the cargo vehicle, resulting in a crack to the wing's edge. The Gulfstream V was not scheduled to fly at the time of the incident and was stationary at its parking position when the collision occurred.
The aircraft sustained minor damage and is currently unable to fly pending repairs. The incident was contained to the apron area with no personnel on board at the time of the strike.
The Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ministry initiated investigations into the accident to determine the circumstances of the cargo truck strike and establish preventive measures.
