A de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver Mk I floatplane operated by Whitsunday Air Services was involved in an incident near Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island, Queensland. While attempting a water landing, the aircraft impacted the water and came to rest inverted.
Fortunately, the pilot and four passengers on board were unharmed and successfully evacuated the aircraft. They were subsequently rescued by boat and taken to Hamilton Island Marina for assessment by paramedics. Two individuals sustained minor injuries related to seatbelt restraints, but no hospitalization was required.
The exact cause of the incident remains unknown, and authorities will likely conduct an investigation to determine the contributing factors. Possible causes could include challenging weather conditions, mechanical issues, or pilot error.
