What happened
On Thursday, 19 February 2026, an Aeroprakt A-32 Vixxen was conducting a private flight at Lilydale Airport, Victoria, when it encountered windshear during the landing phase at approximately 3:00 pm local time.
The pilot reported experiencing control issues as the aircraft descended toward the runway. During touchdown, the propeller struck the ground, causing the aircraft to flip forward and come to rest inverted on the runway area. The pilot, the sole occupant, sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) was notified of the occurrence and is investigating the accident. The event has been recorded under the ICAO occurrence category WSTRW (Windshear or Thunderstorm).
