Incident Overview
A 34-year-old woman from Mount Gambier has died after crashing her Mitsubishi SUV into a tree at Western Flat in South Australia’s rural east. A seven-year-old boy travelling with her sustained minor injuries.

  • Injured: 7-year-old male passenger, sustained minor injuries and transported to hospital

Crash Description
According to SA Police, the Mitsubishi SUV left the roadway and struck a tree. Emergency services responded quickly, but the driver was declared deceased at the scene. The young passenger was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Road and Traffic Impacts
Naracoorte Road was closed for several hours while major crash investigators examined the scene and conducted forensic analysis.

Investigation
The South Australia Police Major Crash unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. This incident marks the 48th road fatality in South Australia for 2025.
