On Monday, September 2, 2024, a serious two-vehicle collision occurred on Richmond Road in Marayong, Sydney’s northwest, leaving a woman critically injured and a man hospitalized. The incident involved a black Honda sedan colliding with an SUV driven by a supervised learner driver.

Emergency services attended the scene shortly after the impact at approximately 9:40 pm. Richmond Road was temporarily closed in both directions between Breakfast Road and Love Street to allow for emergency response and scene examination.

Community Impact

Emergency Response

NSW Ambulance and NSW Police attended the scene. Two patients were transported to Westmead Hospital: the female passenger with critical head injuries and the male driver with internal injuries. The learner driver and her supervising family member did not require medical transport.

Following the impact, the Honda struck a large gum tree, while the SUV came to rest on the opposite side of the road, approximately 50 metres away.

Investigation

NSW Police are leading the investigation into the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary investigations suggest the SUV may have been clipped by the Honda sedan. Authorities are examining the circumstances of the collision and the involvement of the learner driver.
