On September 1, 2023, a horrific hit-and-run crash occurred in Heckenberg, southwest Sydney. A Mercedes AMG, allegedly driven by 21-year-old Johnson Kokozian, collided head-on with a Toyota Echo, killing 24-year-old Alina Kauffman and her 15-year-old brother, Ernesto Salazar.
Details of the Crash and Cover-Up
The Mercedes, allegedly traveling at high speed, crossed into the oncoming lane and struck the Toyota head-on. Kokozian and two passengers reportedly fled the scene after the crash. Kokozian’s fiancee, Tiana Savignano, her friend Cruz Pamoana Davis-Tuka, and Kokozian’s father, Kagadour Hanna Kokozian, were later arrested for allegedly attempting to cover up the crime by claiming the Mercedes had been stolen.
Woman Pleads Guilty to Concealing Evidence
Laila Moukhallaletti, a 21-year-old friend of Kokozian, pleaded guilty to attempting to conceal evidence related to the crash. She admitted to advising Savignano to delete Instagram photos of the Mercedes and offering a false alibi to one of the passengers involved.
Court Proceedings
Moukhallaletti will be sentenced on December 13, 2024. Johnson Kokozian, Kagadour Kokozian, Savignano, and Davis-Tuka are facing charges related to the crash and the alleged cover-up. They are scheduled to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on October 23, 2024.
