On Thursday, September 5, 2024, a serious single-vehicle crash occurred in Kurmond, approximately 70 kilometres west of Sydney, resulting in a ute being torn apart. The 28-year-old P-plate driver fled the scene immediately after the collision but was located approximately two hours later in bushland nearby.

NSW Police and NSW Ambulance attended the scene in the early hours of the morning. The driver was treated for significant injuries and transported to hospital in serious condition.

Emergency Response

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene and provided treatment to the driver for a broken collarbone and lacerations. The driver was transported to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition. NSW Police also attended and located the driver approximately two hours after the crash in bushland approximately 1.5 kilometres from the crash site.

Investigation

NSW Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. The driver is subject to mandatory testing as part of the investigation into the incident. Police are examining the cause of the single-vehicle collision and the driver’s decision to flee the scene.
