Update 1: Traffic crash, Kangaroo Point

What happened

Incident Overview

On Monday, February 12, 2024, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Main Street at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, at approximately 6:30pm local time. A Hyundai i30 travelling south collided with a Toyota Prius that was turning right from Baines Road, resulting in one person being transported to hospital in stable condition.

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit attended the scene and commenced investigations immediately. On February 20, the driver of the Hyundai i30 was served with a notice to appear in court.

The collision occurred on Main Street at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, at approximately 6:30pm on Monday, February 12, 2024.

• Driver of Hyundai i30 (26-year-old woman from Moorooka) – transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries, subsequently released

Emergency Response

Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Police attended the scene at Kangaroo Point. Two patients were transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital; the driver of the Hyundai i30 was treated for minor injuries and released, while the driver of the Toyota Prius was admitted in stable condition.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the collision. On February 20, 2024, the 26-year-old driver of the Hyundai i30 was served with a notice to appear for one count of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm. She is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 14, 2024. Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
