Update 1: Fatal traffic crash, Caboolture

What happened

Incident Overview

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Bribie Island Road in Caboolture, Queensland, claiming the life of a 51-year-old motorcycle rider. A black Harley Davidson motorcycle and a white Fiat Ducato van collided between Hickey Road and Toorbul Road at approximately 4:15am.

Queensland Police attended the scene and declared the incident a serious crash. The motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the van driver sustained no injuries.

The collision occurred on Bribie Island Road between Hickey Road and Toorbul Road in Caboolture, at approximately 4:15am on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

Emergency Response

Queensland Police and emergency services attended the scene following the collision. The motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. Scene management and initial investigation commenced immediately.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the collision. Following their examination, a 47-year-old Caboolture woman was charged with one count of careless driving causing death. She is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on January 1, 2025.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or persons with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage of Bribie Island Road at the time of the collision to come forward.
