What happened

Incident Overview

On Monday, September 30, 2024, a 15-year-old girl from Townsville was killed in a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Deeragun Road and the Bruce Highway in Deeragun, North Queensland. The incident occurred just after 5:00 PM when the girl, riding an e-scooter, collided with a Mitsubishi Pajero and was subsequently struck by a motorbike.

Queensland Police attended the scene and declared the incident a serious crash. The girl was pronounced deceased at the scene, while two other road users sustained injuries.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Deeragun Road and the Bruce Highway in Deeragun, North Queensland, at approximately 5:00 PM on Monday afternoon, September 30, 2024.

Emergency Response

Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene immediately following the collision. The 65-year-old motorbike rider was transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The scene was secured and managed by emergency services.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the multi-vehicle collision. Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
