What happened

Incident Overview

On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, a serious two-vehicle collision occurred on West Street at Harristown, Queensland, leaving a motorbike rider critically injured. A white 2005 Proton Jumbuck utility travelling north collided with a black 2011 Honda CBR250R motorbike near Stephen Street at approximately 10:00am local time.

The 26-year-old rider was transported to Toowoomba Hospital with life-threatening injuries before being airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The utility driver, a 77-year-old Harristown man, sustained minor injuries and is assisting police with investigations.

Emergency Response

Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene and transported the critically injured motorbike rider to Toowoomba Hospital. The patient was subsequently airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital for specialist treatment. Queensland Police attended and secured the scene.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Police are appealing for any witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward. The utility driver is assisting police with their enquiries. Investigations are ongoing.
