What happened

Incident Overview

On Thursday, February 2, 2023, a serious multi-vehicle collision occurred on Goodwood Road in Bundaberg, Queensland, leaving a 17-year-old driver in critical condition. The teenager was struck from behind while stationary and waiting to turn, and was pushed into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

Queensland Police and emergency services attended the scene at approximately 7:00pm local time. The young driver was transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital in critical condition, while two other occupants sustained minor injuries.

Emergency Response

Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Police attended the scene. The 17-year-old driver was transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital in critical condition. The 58-year-old male and 28-year-old female were also conveyed to Bundaberg Base Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The 31-year-old driver from the third vehicle did not require hospital transport.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the collision. Investigators are appealing for witnesses or any motorists with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward with information.
