Bystanders intervened to protect a woman who appeared to be a passenger in the crashed vehicle and was suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Police arrived at the scene to find the man allegedly running from the crash site. He was apprehended with the use of a taser. During the arrest, a male police officer sustained a serious laceration to his wrist. All four injured individuals, including the police officer, the alleged attacker, the female passenger, and another person whose involvement is unclear, were taken to the hospital.
Road Closure and Community Reassurance
The Princes Highway was closed in both directions between Farnell Ave and Heathcote Rd, causing significant traffic disruptions. Police Minister Yasmin Catley assured the community that there was no ongoing threat and commended the injured officer for their bravery.
