Incident Overview
On September 24, 2024, a tragic truck and car crash occurred on Liverpool Rd at Ashfield, Sydney, around 8am. The truck collided with a Mercedes-Benz sedan, leading to the death of the 61-year-old truck driver.
Details of the Ashfield Crash
The 61-year-old truck driver was treated by paramedics but sadly died at the scene. The 30-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz was uninjured and transported to Canterbury Hospital for mandatory testing. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, and both vehicles have been seized for forensic examination.
Traffic Disruptions and Aftermath
Eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Liverpool Rd were closed, causing significant traffic delays. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and allow for extra travel time, while local buses were diverted, missing several stops.
Investigation and Appeal for Witnesses
NSW Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are urging anyone with dashcam footage or information about the crash to come forward.
