A man is in a critical condition after a horrific high-speed crash in Truganina, Melbourne. The force of the impact was so severe that it split the car in two, leaving debris scattered over 100 meters.
Crash Overview
The accident occurred on Sunday, July 28th, 2024, at approximately 4:00 AM on Dohertys Road in Truganina. The driver, a man in his 20s, lost control of his vehicle, flew over a roundabout, and collided with a tree at high speed. The impact caused the car to break apart, scattering debris across a significant distance.
Injuries and Medical Response
Witnesses rushed to the aid of the driver, who was still inside the wreckage, before paramedics arrived. The man was transported to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening head and leg injuries. He underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.
Investigation
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, including the possibility that drugs or alcohol were a factor. They have measured tire marks at the scene to determine the vehicle’s speed at the time of the accident. Senior Sergeant Fletcher Pearson expressed surprise that the driver survived the impact, given the severity of the crash.
