Introduction
The M1 Highway near Karuah, north of Newcastle, experienced significant disruptions due to a truck crash in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Karuah Crash Overview
The incident involved a B-double truck that rolled down an embankment into a creek around 3 am. According to NSW Police, the truck was overtaking another vehicle when the second vehicle veered into its path, forcing the B-double driver to take evasive action, resulting in the crash.

Impact and Emergency Response
The crash caused the B-double’s trailers to detach and land on the grass median strip. Fortunately, the 53-year-old truck driver was not injured. He was breathalyzed at the scene, and the results were negative.

Traffic Disruptions and Investigation
The Karuah crash led to the closure of the southbound lanes of the M1 Highway, with traffic diverted through Karuah. The diversions are expected to remain in place until Tuesday afternoon. NSW Police are investigating the incident and are seeking dashcam footage or any relevant information from witnesses.
