Jimbour East Crash: Father and Two Sons Killed, Mother Critically Injured in Horror Collision

What happened

Incident Overview

On Monday, 18 June 2024, a fatal collision occurred on Dalby-Jandowae Road at Jimbour East, northwest of Toowoomba, Queensland, claiming the lives of a father and his two sons. The family of four was travelling in a sedan when it was struck from behind by a LandCruiser ute at approximately 11:00 am.

The mother, the sole survivor, sustained critical abdominal and chest injuries and was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. The driver of the LandCruiser ute was transported to Toowoomba Hospital with back injuries.

The collision occurred on Dalby-Jandowae Road at Jimbour East, northwest of Toowoomba, at approximately 11:00 am on Monday morning. Witnesses reported that the family’s sedan had stopped to assist a council worker mowing on the roadside when it was struck from behind.

Emergency Response

Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene. The mother was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital due to the severity of her injuries. The LandCruiser ute driver was transported by road ambulance to Toowoomba Hospital.

Investigation

Queensland Police are leading the investigation into the collision. Acting Inspector Greg Wheeler attended the scene and described it as “horrific”, urging drivers to obey road rules and adjust their driving to conditions. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Queensland Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski emphasised the critical importance of road safety and vigilance on Queensland roads in response to this tragedy.
