Incident Overview

A 52-year-old motorcyclist died after a three-vehicle crash on Tamborine Mountain Road at Tamborine Mountain on Sunday, 12 April 2026. Queensland Police Service (QPS) said the rider was taken by air to Gold Coast University Hospital with critical injuries and later died.

According to QPS’s later update, initial investigations indicate that a white 2005 Subaru Liberty travelling south collided with a grey BMW motorcycle and a grey Nissan X-Trail travelling north. People and Vehicles Involved

QPS identified the vehicles as a white 2005 Subaru Liberty, a grey BMW motorcycle and a grey Nissan X-Trail. The motorcyclist was a 52-year-old man. QPS said the Subaru’s 25-year-old male driver and two male passengers, aged 22 and 25, were injured. The Nissan occupants were identified as a 72-year-old male driver and a 70-year-old woman.

Injuries and Fatalities

The motorcyclist later died in hospital. QPS said the two Subaru passengers were airlifted with life-threatening injuries. The Subaru driver and the two Nissan occupants were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The available reports do not provide a later medical outcome for those five people.

Emergency Response

QPS said the motorcyclist and the two Subaru passengers were airlifted to hospital, while the other injured people were transported by road. 7NEWS reported that three rescue helicopters attended and that Tamborine Mountain Road was closed in both directions for much of Sunday before reopening late that afternoon.

Police Investigation

Officers from the Logan Forensic Crash Unit are investigating. The earlier QPS release reported the crash at 10:38 am and described a car travelling east; the later QPS update reported about 10:35 am and identified the vehicles and directions above. This article follows the later official update while recording the difference. Neither source provides a final determination about the cause of the crash or legal responsibility.
