On Sunday, December 22, 2024, a fatal traffic crash occurred on the Bruce Highway near Petersen Road in Owanyilla, Queensland. A motorcyclist struck a horse on the roadway at approximately 4:10am local time, sustaining critical injuries from which he died at the scene.

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit attended and is investigating the circumstances of the collision.
