Fatal traffic crash, New Chum (Ipswich)

What happened

Incident Overview

On Sunday, February 18, 2024, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Redbank Plains Road near the Cunningham Highway at New Chum, Ipswich, Queensland. A Toyota Camry and a Husqvarna motorbike collided at approximately 10:00am, resulting in the death of the motorcycle rider.

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit attended the scene and commenced a full investigation. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured in the collision.

• 32-year-old male motorcycle rider from Leichhardt (transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries; deceased)

Emergency Response

Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene and transported the motorcycle rider to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Queensland Police and emergency services managed the scene and secured the collision site.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances of the collision. Police are appealing for any motorists with dashcam footage or other CCTV vision of the incident to come forward to assist investigators. Investigations are ongoing.
