What happened

Incident Overview

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, a fatal traffic crash occurred on the Bruce Highway near Goondi Bend in Innisfail, Queensland. A red Range Rover SUV left the road and struck a pole, resulting in the death of the driver and serious injuries to the passenger.

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit attended the scene and is now leading the investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

Emergency Response

Queensland Police and emergency services attended the scene following the crash. The injured passenger was transported to Innisfail Hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash. Police are appealing for any witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage of the Bruce Highway near Goondi Bend at the time of the incident to come forward with information.
