What happened

Incident Overview

On Friday, 8 August 2025, an 18-year-old man died following a single-vehicle crash on the Peak Downs Highway near Moranbah in rural north Queensland. A silver Toyota HiLux left the roadway and struck a power pole, with the passenger sustaining critical injuries from which he could not be revived.

Queensland Police and emergency services attended the scene at approximately 11:30am. The driver, an 18-year-old male, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Moranbah Hospital for assessment.
