Incident Overview
An 18-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash on the Peak Downs Highway in Moranbah, rural north Queensland. The vehicle left the road and collided with a power pole.

Injuries / Fatalities
- Deceased: 18-year-old male passenger from Balberra, pronounced dead at the scene
- Injured: 18-year-old male driver from Beaconsfield, sustained minor injuries and transported to Moranbah Hospital
Crash Description
Police allege the Toyota Hilux left the road before striking a power pole. Emergency services arrived to find the passenger critically injured; he could not be revived. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for assessment.
Road and Traffic Impacts
Traffic disruptions occurred during the emergency response and while the Forensic Crash Unit examined the scene.
Investigation
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and has appealed for relevant dashcam or CCTV footage.
