A motorcyclist has died in a single vehicle crash at Hendra early this morning.

Initial investigations indicate at 3.18am a motorcycle was headed north on Southern Cross Way just north of the East West Arterial Road when the rider has lost control and fallen from the bike.

The rider, a 49-year-old man, died at the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
