A fatal single-vehicle crash near Bega in southern New South Wales has claimed the life of a young male passenger. The crash occurred on the morning of Monday, July 21, 2025, along the winding Mount Darragh Road in the locality of Mount Darragh, located approximately one hour southwest of Bega.

- Fatality: Male passenger, aged in his 20s, deceased at the scene
- Driver: Male in his 20s, sustained internal injuries, airlifted to Canberra Hospital in stable condition
Crash Description
Initial reports from NSW Police confirm the vehicle left the roadway and went down an embankment before colliding with a tree. Emergency services responded to the scene, but the front-seat passenger could not be revived. The driver was treated for serious internal injuries and airlifted to hospital after initial care at Bega Hospital.
Investigation
Police have established a crime scene and launched a full Investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. A report will be prepared for the Coroner. The cause of the vehicle veering off the roadway remains under investigation.
Road and Traffic Impacts
Mount Darragh Rd was closed in both directions following the incident.
- Traffic diversions were put in place via Snowy Mountains Hwy and Imlay Rd.
Witnesses/Appeals
Police are urging any witnesses, especially motorists with dashcam footage of the vehicle prior to the crash, to come forward and assist with the investigation.
