What happened

Incident Overview

On Monday, September 26, 2022, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred at Ironpot, north of Rockhampton, Queensland, claiming the life of a 29-year-old driver. The crash involved a Toyota HiLux travelling east on Rockhampton Yeppoon Road and an oncoming truck at approximately 4:30pm local time.

Queensland Police attended the scene and declared the incident a serious crash. The driver of the HiLux was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the truck driver was transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Emergency Response

Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene. The truck driver was transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital by ambulance in a stable condition.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the collision. Police are appealing for any motorists with dashcam footage or information about the crash to come forward.
