What happened

Incident Overview

A 41-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle collision on Guineas Creek Road at Elanora on Thursday, March 21, 2024, late in the afternoon. A motorcycle travelling west collided head-on with a sport utility vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, with the motorcycle rider declared deceased at the scene.

Queensland Police and emergency services attended the scene. The driver of the SUV, a 48-year-old Elanora woman, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The collision occurred on Guineas Creek Road between Simpsons Road and Wirildar Drive at Elanora, at approximately 5:45pm on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency Response

Queensland Police and emergency services responded to the scene following the collision. The motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. The SUV driver received treatment for minor injuries on site.

Investigation

Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances of the collision. Investigators are examining the events that led to the head-on impact on Guineas Creek Road. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been reported at this stage.
