Incident Overview
A 64-year-old man was seriously injured after an alleged crash involving a pedestrian on Sugar Bag Road at Caloundra West on Saturday afternoon.
Queensland Police said the man was struck by a silver Nissan Pathfinder at about 3.30pm on 30 August 2026. The vehicle allegedly left the scene before police arrived.

Injuries and Hospital Treatment
- The injured pedestrian was a 64-year-old man.
- Police said he sustained serious injuries to his leg and chest.
- He was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
Police Charges
Police later arrested a 60-year-old Caloundra West man, who they allege was driving the Nissan Pathfinder. He has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and failing to remain at the scene and render assistance while showing callous disregard.
The charges are allegations that have not been determined by a court. Police said the man was granted bail and is due to appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on 17 September 2026.
