Introduction
A man has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after becoming trapped in industrial machinery at a workplace in Brisbane’s south. Emergency services spent nearly an hour freeing him from the equipment as investigators now probe the cause of the horrific accident.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred around 8:20am on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at a business on Evans Road in Salisbury — part of an industrial precinct housing factories, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities.
According to Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES), four rescue crews were dispatched to the scene after reports that the man’s arms had become caught in heavy machinery.
It took emergency crews almost an hour to carefully extricate him. Paramedics treated the worker, who is believed to be in his 40s, for serious injuries to his arms and chest before transporting him to Princess Alexandra Hospital in critical condition.
Regulatory Investigation
A spokesperson for Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) confirmed that inspectors have been notified and are investigating the incident.
“Inspectors are onsite and investigating the incident. No further comment can be made at this time,” the spokesperson said.
Authorities will assess whether safety protocols, machinery maintenance, or procedural failures contributed to the entrapment.
Location and Context
Evans Road in Salisbury is one of Brisbane’s key industrial corridors, home to a range of logistics, manufacturing, and engineering businesses. Workplace incidents in such environments often involve complex machinery, prompting investigators to examine operator training, equipment condition, and lockout procedures.
Conclusion
As the injured worker remains in hospital, WHSQ’s investigation will focus on whether any breach of safety obligations occurred. The incident serves as another reminder of the risks faced by industrial workers in Queensland’s manufacturing sector, where proper machinery safeguards and rapid emergency response are critical to preventing serious injury or death.
