Introduction
For the second time in as many weeks, Princess Cruises has canceled a scheduled sailing of the Regal Princess due to ongoing technical issues. This latest cancellation affects the November 3rd departure from Galveston, Texas, which was meant to be the ship’s second Caribbean cruise from its new homeport.
Details of the Incident
The cancellation comes on the heels of a previous cancellation on October 27th, also due to technical difficulties. While the exact nature of the problems remains undisclosed, they are believed to be related to an engine room incident and subsequent power outages experienced during the ship’s recent transatlantic crossing from Europe.
Despite the setbacks, Princess Cruises assures passengers that repairs are progressing as planned. Technicians are working diligently to restore the vessel to full operational capacity, with safety remaining the top priority.
Operational Context
To compensate affected passengers, Princess Cruises is offering full refunds for cruise fares and shore excursions, along with a 25% Future Cruise Credit. The cruise line acknowledges the inconvenience caused by the short-notice cancellations and aims to assist guests in rescheduling their travel plans.
