On July 7, 2025, the Celebrity Infinity experienced an onboard power failure caused by a minor electrical fire while docked in Kuşadası, Türkiye. The incident forced the ship to cancel its scheduled departure and delay its itinerary, impacting multiple port calls. Celebrity Cruises has since extended the port stay and issued onboard credits to guests as compensation.

Onboard Impact and Response:

  • The fire caused a ship-wide blackout affecting cabin lighting, air conditioning, and food service operations.
  • Guests returning from shore excursions on July 8 were informed of the incident, which had occurred while they were ashore.
  • Diagnostic teams worked overnight and uncovered further technical faults, necessitating the arrival of external electrical specialists.
  • The ship remained in port for emergency repairs through at least the evening of July 9.

Itinerary Changes:

  • The ship’s departure to Mykonos was delayed, and the originally scheduled visit to Kavala (Greece) was cancelled entirely.
  • Guests were notified in writing that passenger safety and comfort took priority in the decision-making process.
  • Celebrity is evaluating a revised itinerary that replaces the July 11 sea day with a visit to Mykonos, pending final confirmation.
  • Despite disruptions, the cruise remains on track to disembark in Piraeus, Athens, on July 12 as originally planned.

Passenger Compensation:

  • Celebrity Cruises provided onboard credits based on stateroom category:
    • US$200 for inside cabins
    • US$400 for balcony cabins
    • US$600 for deluxe suites
    • US$50 per third/fourth passenger in each stateroom
  • Passengers commended crew communication efforts and the availability of basic services during the blackout.

Guest Reactions and Crew Handling:

  • Although disappointed by the missed port calls, most guests expressed understanding and praised the crew’s professionalism and transparency.
  • Celebrity Cruises emphasized that guest safety was never compromised and that contingency plans were implemented swiftly.
