Tragedy struck at a Bundaberg intersection on Saturday night, November 23, 2024, when a van carrying five people collided with another vehicle, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old passenger and injuries to seven others. The crash occurred around 7:25 pm at the intersection of Hummock Road and Elliot Heads Road in Windermere, Bundaberg.
Vehicles Involved
Two vehicles were involved in the collision: a white Toyota Hiace van and a Mazda BT-50.
Crash Description
The Toyota Hiace van, carrying five people, was traveling on Hummock Road when it collided with a Mazda BT-50 at the intersection of Elliot Heads Road. The impact of the crash resulted in significant damage to both vehicles and tragically caused the death of one of the van’s passengers.
Injuries/Fatalities
A 25-year-old man from Bundaberg East, who was a passenger in the van, died at the scene. Seven other people were injured in the crash. The driver and three other passengers of the van were taken to Bundaberg Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and three occupants of the Mazda BT-50 were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services, including police and paramedics, attended the scene.
Investigation and Charges
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The 33-year-old driver of the van, from Bundaberg East, has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death. He is scheduled to appear before the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday.
