Incident Overview

On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 9:00 AM, emergency services responded to a report of a bus on fire in a paddock on Vermont Road in Mowbray, Launceston.

Details of the Incident

The bus, a converted motorhome, was engulfed in flames when emergency services arrived. After extinguishing the fire, a woman’s body was discovered inside the vehicle.

Investigation

Tasmania Police Inspector Craig Fox stated that the deceased has not yet been formally identified. However, police are aware of two individuals who were living in the bus. One of those individuals remains unaccounted for.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
