Incident Overview
Three people died after a truck and a Toyota sedan collided at an intersection near Birdwood in the Adelaide Hills. Two other occupants of the sedan were seriously injured and taken to hospital, while the truck driver was uninjured and is assisting police.

    • 73-year-old man, driver of Toyota sedan, life-threatening injuries; cut from wreckage and flown to Royal Adelaide Hospital
    • 56-year-old man, passenger in Toyota sedan, serious injuries; cut from wreckage and flown to Royal Adelaide Hospital
    • 50-year-old man, truck driver from SA Mid North, not physically injured; assisting police

Emergency Response

  • Emergency services were called to the intersection about 1:40pm and attended the scene.
  • Two injured occupants of the Toyota were cut from the wreckage and flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
  • Police closed multiple roads in the area during the response and investigation; the roads have since reopened.

Police Investigation
Major Crash investigators attended and are examining the circumstances of the collision. Police said the truck driver has been helping with inquiries.
