A man has died and a woman has been seriously injured in a horrific crash involving two cars and a truck on the New England Highway in Liddell, New South Wales. The incident occurred around midnight on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Crash Description

Two cars initially collided on the New England Highway. Following this initial collision, a truck crashed into the two cars, compounding the severity of the incident.

Injuries/Fatalities

The male driver of one of the cars died at the scene. The 22-year-old female driver of the other car was trapped in her vehicle and sustained serious injuries. She was freed by Fire and Rescue NSW and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in serious condition. The truck driver, believed to be in his 40s, was not injured.

Emergency Response

Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and Fire and Rescue NSW, attended the scene.

Investigation

NSW Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. A report will be prepared for the coroner

Community Impact

The crash has resulted in the closure of the New England Highway in both directions near Pikes Gully Road at Liddell. Traffic diversions are in place, causing significant disruption to travel in the area. The incident has also shocked the local community.
