Introduction
A man has tragically lost his life in a collision between a van and a truck on the North West Coastal Highway in Eurardy, Western Australia. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening and is currently under investigation by the Major Crash unit.
Crash Overview
The fatal crash took place on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, at approximately 7:30 PM on the North West Coastal Highway in Eurardy, situated about 150 kilometers north of Geraldton in the state’s Mid West region. The collision involved a southbound white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van and a northbound white Hino tray top truck towing a trailer.
Fatality and Injuries
The driver of the van, a 36-year-old man, sustained critical injuries and tragically died at the scene. The truck driver, a 53-year-old man, was transported to Geraldton Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Investigation
The Major Crash unit is currently at the scene, conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. They are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
