Introduction
A 63-year-old man from Tangambalanga tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on the Murray Valley Highway in Barnawartha, Victoria, on Tuesday morning. The incident has resulted in road closures and an ongoing police investigation.

Crash Overview
The fatal crash occurred on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, at approximately 6:40 AM on the Murray Valley Highway between Coyles and Mildrens Roads in Barnawartha. A white Mitsubishi Triton and a white Toyota Hilux collided, resulting in the death of the Mitsubishi driver.

Fatality and Injuries
The driver of the Mitsubishi Triton, a 63-year-old man from Tangambalanga, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Hilux, a 38-year-old man from Rutherglen, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigation and Road Closures
Victoria Police are investigating the cause of the collision. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The Murray Valley Highway is currently closed between Old Barnawartha Road and Barnawartha-Howlong Road. Access is limited to heavy vehicles only, and eastbound traffic is being diverted. VicTraffic is advising motorists to avoid the area and seek an alternate route via the Hume Freeway.
