A 29-year-old man has tragically lost his life following a horrific multi-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway at Gindoran, 110km south of Gladstone, Queensland. The incident occurred around 1:50 am on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, and involved several trucks and two ambulances.
Details of the Gindoran Crash
The chaos began when a truck is believed to have veered off the road due to heavy fog. Another truck traveling in the opposite direction slowed down to assist but was subsequently struck from behind by multiple trucks. The 29-year-old man was driving the first truck that collided with the slowing vehicle. He sustained critical head and leg injuries.
Two ambulances dispatched to the scene also became involved in the crash while trying to avoid a reversing truck. Two paramedics suffered minor injuries but were able to continue treating patients.
Casualties and Investigation
The critically injured 29-year-old truck driver was initially taken to Gladstone Hospital before being flown to Royal Brisbane Hospital, where he tragically passed away. Another driver in his 50s also sustained critical head and leg injuries and was taken to Gladstone Hospital. A man in his 20s suffered head, chest, and leg injuries and was transported to Bundaberg Hospital. Two other individuals were treated at the scene.
