On August 10, 2024, a tragic crash occurred near Yalgoo in Western Australia’s remote Mid-West region. A Toyota Hilux rolled over, resulting in the deaths of three passengers: five-week-old Levi, his mother Marrika Brockman (33), and her niece Gabrielle Brockman (21).

The group was returning home to Geraldton after attending a funeral in Meekatharra when the crash occurred around 10:50 PM on the Geraldton-Mount Magnet Road. Levi, who was reportedly being held by his mother in the back seat, and Gabrielle died at the scene. Marrika, a mother of three, tragically succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

Charges Laid

Two months after the devastating incident, a 22-year-old man from Newman has been charged with three counts of dangerous driving causing death in circumstances of aggravation. He also faces two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm in circumstances of aggravation, related to injuries sustained by two other male passengers in the vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the South Hedland Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
