Around 3:00 AM, police discovered an SUV that had veered off The Bucketts Way and crashed down an embankment. The vehicle was carrying a 45-year-old male driver, an 11-year-old girl, and two boys aged 8 and 9. Tragically, the driver and the young girl were pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency Response and Rescue

Firefighters worked to free the two young boys who were trapped in the wreckage. Paramedics treated the boys for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene before transporting them to John Hunter Hospital.

Investigation

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. They are exploring the possibility that the vehicle may have been involved in a minor crash in the area earlier. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
