Firefighters worked to extricate the man from the truck, a process described as “extensive” by a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokesperson. The damaged tree also posed a risk to rescue workers, requiring it to be roped off to prevent it from falling.
Injuries and Airlift
The man sustained significant and life-threatening head and leg injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and the critical care doctor. Due to the severity of his injuries, a LifeFlight rescue helicopter was dispatched to transport him to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He arrived at the hospital in critical condition.
