The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a teenager died in a multi vehicle crash at Gladfield this afternoon.

Preliminary investigations indicate at 2.40pm a ute was travelling west on the Cunningham Highway when it collided with two oncoming vehicles near Gladfield Back Road.

The driver and sole occupant of the ute, a 17-year-old Texas man, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.

The occupants of the other two vehicles were transported to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
