A motorcyclist has died following a two vehicle crash in Scarborough yesterday afternoon, Sunday October 30.

Preliminary information indicates around 3.30pm a white 2007 Yamaha FZ6N motorcycle and blue 2009 BMW 520D sedan were both travelling south along Scarborough Road when a collision occurred at the intersection of Maryborough Terrace.

The rider, a 43-year-old Lutwyche man sustained critical injuries died at the scene. He was assisted by several bystanders and the occupants of the vehicle who were not physically injured.

The crash closed the intersection for several hours before it was reopened just prior to 7pm.

The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate and are appealing for witnesses, especially those with dashcam vision of the crash, or the moments leading up to it to come forward.
