The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a fatal traffic crash in Mossman tonight (October 16).

Preliminary information indicates around 7.00pm a motorcycle was travelling along Mossman Mount Molloy Road when it collided with a car.

The motorcycle rider, a 51-year-old Mareeba man, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 65-year-old man, was uninjured and is assisting police.

Forensic Crash Unit investigators are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam vision to come forward.
