This Victor Harbor hospital crash resulted in minor injuries to four people, including the driver, a staff member, a first responder, and a passenger in another vehicle.

Details of the Victor Harbor Hospital Crash

The driver’s car had hit a Tesla before crashing into the hospital. The driver of the Tesla, Daryl Stichel, reported that someone had just left their desk in the impacted office moments before the Victor Harbor hospital crash. Mr. Stichel assisted at the scene, helping to extinguish a small fire that started in the crashed vehicle and aiding the police in extracting the driver.

Impact and Response

The Victor Harbor hospital crash affected the hospital’s recovery area, theatre, and one ward due to dust and smoke. Ambulances are being diverted to other hospitals until at least 5 pm. The Metropolitan Fire Service and the State Emergency Service worked to remove the car from the hospital wall.

Investigation and Aftermath

Police are investigating the cause of the Victor Harbor hospital crash. Local state MP David Basham, who lives near the hospital, reported hearing the prolonged screeching of tires before the impact. Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network chief executive Bronwyn Masters thanked the hospital staff for their quick response and assured that affected staff members would receive support. She also mentioned potential short-term impacts for patients with appointments and advised those requiring urgent care to continue to present to the hospital via the emergency department.
