Police are appealing for public assistance following a traffic crash in Buderim on July 25.

Initial information indicates around 1.50pm, a vehicle was reversing in a carpark at a church along Main Street when it struck an elderly woman.

The vehicle then left the carpark.

The 88-year-old woman sustained non-life threatening leg injuries and was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Investigators are appealing for the owner of a light-coloured Toyota Aurion sedan, which was parked at the location earlier that afternoon, to come forward.

Anyone who recognise the vehicle or has further information about the incident is asked to contact police.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
